Ingredients

1 lb breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, according to preference)

1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1 can (16.3 oz) refrigerated biscuit dough (like Pillsbury Grands)

6 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 tsp garlic powder

1 tsp onion powder

½ tsp salt

½ tsp black pepper

¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional for a kick)

Chopped fresh chives for garnish (optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

Cook the Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, crumble and cook the breakfast sausage until browned and fully cooked (about 6-8 minutes). Drain excess grease and set aside.

Prepare the Biscuit Dough: Open the can of biscuit dough and cut each biscuit into quarters. You can either use a sharp knife or your hands to break them apart.

Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using.

Layer the Bake: In the greased baking dish, evenly spread the cooked sausage across the bottom. Scatter the quartered biscuits over the sausage layer. Pour the egg mixture over the top, making sure it evenly coats all the biscuits and sausage.

Add Cheddar Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese generously over the top of the dish, ensuring an even distribution.

Bake the Dish: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown, the egg is set, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serve: Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped chives if desired. Cut into squares and serve warm.

Enjoy: This makes for a hearty breakfast or brunch option that is perfect for feeding a crowd!
