12 oz refrigerated cheese tortellini

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts, diced

2 tablespoons olive oil

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup heavy cream

1/2 cup basil pesto

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Cook the Tortellini: In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the tortellini and cook according to package instructions until al dente (about 3-5 minutes). Drain and set aside.

    Sauté the Chicken: In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced chicken and season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is browned and cooked through.

      Add Garlic: Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.

        Create the Sauce: Reduce the heat to low, and pour in the heavy cream. Stir continuously until it thickens slightly (about 2-3 minutes).

          Mix in Pesto and Cheese: Add the basil pesto and grated Parmesan cheese to the skillet. Stir until well combined and the sauce is creamy. If using, add red pepper flakes for a hint of heat.

            Combine Tortellini & Sauce: Gently fold in the cooked tortellini until they are coated with the sauce. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to warm the tortellini through.
