12 oz spaghetti or fettuccine

1 cup heavy cream

1 large lemon (zest and juice)

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

2 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for heat)

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Grated lemon zest for garnish

Cook the pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the spaghetti or fettuccine and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta and set aside.
