Ingredients

2 medium apples (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and diced

1 teaspoon lemon juice

2 tablespoons brown sugar

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1 tablespoon butter

1 package (1 sheet) of puff pastry, thawed

1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Prepare the Apple Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the diced apples with lemon juice, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon. Toss until the apples are evenly coated. Set aside.

Roll Out the Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, unfold the thawed puff pastry sheet. Roll it out gently to smooth out any creases. Cut the pastry into 2-inch squares.

Assemble the Bites: Place a small spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each pastry square. Be careful not to overfill, as this may cause the bites to burst while baking.

Seal the Pastry: Fold the corners of the pastry square over to meet in the middle, creating a pocket around the apple filling. Pinch the seams firmly to seal. You may also use a fork to press down around the edges for a decorative effect.

Prepare for Baking: Place all prepared bites on the lined baking sheet. Brush the tops with the beaten egg to give them a beautiful golden color when baked.

Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the bites are puffed and golden brown.

Cool and Serve: Once baked, remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on a wire rack. If desired, dust with powdered sugar before serving for an added sweetness.

Enjoy: Serve warm as a delightful snack or dessert. Perfect for parties or cozy gatherings!
